Brother MFC-9330CDW Driver Download– The Brother MFC-9330CDW is a color laser-class multifunction printer (MFP), essentially the same as the comparable-priced Brother MFC-9340CDW.
The ADF MFC-9330CDW only supports scanning, copying, and simplex (single-sided) Fax. While both have the same rated print speed, the MFC-9330CDW showed somewhat faster in our tests.
The MFC-9330CDW can print, copy, scan, and Fax. This allows you to send faxes either from a computer (PC Fax) or as a standalone device without needing a computer, in which case you can enter numbers on the MFP’s touch-sensitive keypad.
The ADF can hold up to 35 sheets. The front-facing port lets you print JPEG and PDF files from (and scan files to) a USB thumb drive.
As an LED printer, the MFC-9330CDW uses LEDs instead of lasers as light sources; LED printers are still classified as laser class. It is compact, 16.1 by 16.1 by 19.1 inches (HWD), and weighs 51.1 pounds. The front panel has a 3.7-inch color touchscreen.
To the right is a backlit keypad, which appears only when you press Fax or other functions that require you to enter numbers.
The MFC-9330CDW can connect to a PC via a USB cable or a network via Ethernet or WiFi. It can connect to compatible devices via WiFi Direct without going through a WiFi network.
Printing Speed
The MFC-9330CDW prints our suite of business applications (timed with QualityLogic’s hardware and software) at 6.6 effective pages per minute (ppm), a reasonable speed considering the 23 pages per minute rated speed for color printing and monochrome, which should be about print speed when printing text only.
The speed test was almost one page per minute faster than the Brother MFC-9340CDW (5.8 ppm) despite the same rated speed of 23 pages per minute, and a touch faster than the Brother MFC-9130CW.
Quality Output Quality
the overall output is slightly subpar due to slightly subpar graphics and photos. The text quality of the MFC-9330CDW is on par with laser-class printers, which can be said to be very good. It’s fine for any business use that requires very small fonts, such as demanding desktop publishing applications.
Graphics quality is a touch below standard for a color laser grade printer. Most charts have smooth lines, a regular pattern of faint lines. Some dark backgrounds have a faded or blotchy appearance.
The printer has difficulty distinguishing between the darker and lighter tones in the gradient, with a slight difference in tones between the two. The output is fine for internal use without formal reports; I would hesitate to leave the results to a client I would like to admire.
Photo quality is slightly below standard. Color is generally on the dull side. Some prints show some ribbons. Another problem is dithering and light staining in some prints. Photo quality is adequate for printing recognizable images from files or websites, but that’s about it.
Despite the identical rated speeds, the MFC-9330CDW was faster in our tests than the Brother MFC-9340CDW. The Brother MFC-9340CDW does have the advantage of a duplex ADF: the ability to scan, copy, or two-sided fax documents at once, a feature that the Canon Color imageClass MF8580Cdw has.
The Canon has better output than the MFC-9330CDW or any of the other Brother MFPs mentioned here, although they are more expensive. The Dell 2155cn Editor’s Choice has the best output of all, though it lacks features like auto-duplexer, ADF duplex, and WiFi connectivity.
The Brother MFC-9330CDW is a capable small-office color laser-class MFP with decent speeds, though it is outpaced by the Brother MFC-9340CDW, which has the same approximate street price but adds a duplex ADF.
It’s best for small offices with mostly text printing and the occasional color, but don’t need the quality of graphics and photos needed to, say, take printing of marketing materials at home.
