The Canon PIXMA MG8120B photo All-in-one wireless printer is the latest incarnation of what is equivalent to the top of the Canon line of the House Photo lab. That’s an abbreviated way of saying that this inkjet MFP can print photos at a high enough quality and from so many different sources of film strips to the video frames of the selection cameras that you can justify buying photos for The impression, even if it never connects to a Compu Ter.
That I checked last year, tend to focus on the features of the office. On the contrary, as you can expect in a printer that can be described as a photo lab, the Canon PIXMA MG8120B is clearly lacking in those characteristics. In particular, there is no automatic document feeder, there is no way to scan legal-sized pages, and there is no fax modem.
Paper handling is better than you would expect on a home printer, with 2 150-sheet paper trays and a duplex. But that’s so useful for a printer that focuses on photos as for an office printer. Canon’s setup instructions even suggest normal paper loading on one tray and photo paper on the other, allowing you to switch between the document and print photos without having to check which paper is on the tray.
As a photographic laboratory, the Canon PIXMA MG8120B can print photos directly from memory cards, PictBridge cameras, USB keys, photographic prints and 35mm films, including positive and negative slides and film strips. To print from movies and prints, it even offers a photo reprint feature in addition to the standard Copy command in the front panel menu. The key difference between the two options is that photo reprinting includes picture-specific settings, such as print with or without Borders. It is also noteworthy that the 3.5 inch LCD allows you to preview photos in a reasonably large size before printing.
